The bouldering hall of the CSKA Climbing Center includes 2 tiers of climbing walls with a total climbing surface area of 737 m2.
When designing, we tried to keep the natural lighting in the hall, without blocking the large windows of the room. As always, we wanted to make the design of the climbing walls unusual and memorable, while being unobtrusive and concise. Color coating is often used for climbing walls, but it seemed hackneyed to us, and we chose a transparent friction coating, from under which natural wood is visible, and bright blue elements were applied on top. Thanks to all this, the hall turned out to be bright and sunny, while the entire space is maximally used for climbing.
In order to accommodate as many climbing surfaces as possible, we built a second tier on the large module of the climbing wall, where we located a climbing wall with planes having, mainly, a small positive slope. It is perfect for beginners to learn bouldering skills, and for professionals to work on balance tracks. Also on the second tier there is enough space for warm-up, OFP and just to spend time.
Two large climbing wall modules consist of more than 100 different planes, with tilt angles from +5° to -70°!
In the remaining free space of the hall, we installed climbing walls-“feathers”. We created such climbing walls for the first time — elegant and airy, they helped to maximize the use of space by adding a climbing surface, and at the same time did not block the windows. And you can climb them from all sides.
Also in the gym we have built simulators for SFP:
- Two moonboards with tilt angles of 20° and 40°
- Campusboard for practicing interceptions
- Systemboard for practicing movements and developing endurance
- Pegboard for developing coordination and strength
The shell of the shock—absorbing coating is made of Cordura fabric – strong, durable, and at the same time quite pleasant to the touch. Also, unlike tent fabric shells, it does not throw magnesia on the lower rows of hooks, it is very difficult to tear and much easier to keep clean.
